Year 6 Transition 2025
Welcome to Nottingham Girls' Academy
We are delighted your child will be joining the Nottingham Girls' Academy in September and we look forward to working with you and her over the next seven years of her education and development.
We are extremely proud of our students and the progress they make in our academy. A major strength of our work is how effectively we plan to ensure that all students achieve their full potential whilst here. It is therefore important to us that your child feels happy and reassured about the transition to the Nottingham Girls’ Academy and looks forward to starting with us in September.
Information about Nottingham Girls' Academy
Using the links in this section of our website, you will be able to find some initial information about transport to Nottingham Girls' Academy, attendance expectations and Uniform expectations.
In other sections on our website you can also find information about our curriculum, our rules and expectations, the support and opportunities that will be available to your child and much more.
It can be difficult to take in all the information in one go, so please take your time and don't hesitate to get in touch if the information provided does not answer your questions.
We very much hope you enjoy reading about our school and how we aim to support your daughter's development and success.
The links in this section will provide further information particularly relevant to pupils joining us in Year 6.

Pupil Information
To help us with the transition process we would appreciate it if you could provide us with some information about your child (such as emergency contact details, photo consent, biometric consent, etc)
You can access the forms we would like you to complete on the Student Details and Consent Forms page.
Transition Days
We are looking forward to meeting your child over the upcoming transition days; to help reduce any anxious feelings about the transition we would like to give you as much information as possible about the activities your child will experience during the transition days.
Below is the timetable they will follow, please take a few minutes to look at it with you your child and discuss the exciting opportunities they may experience during the lessons.
Parents and carers will need to organise transport for their child for the transition days.
Pupils are expected to wear their current school PE kit for the transition days. They will need to bring a bottle of water (these can be refilled during the day) and a pencil case containing a pen, pencil, eraser, and ruler. Your child will be provided with a complementary transition day school meal, or they can bring their own packed lunch.
Once you have attended the Transition Evening on Monday 30th June 2025 and found out which tutor group your child has been placed in use the links below to access the specific letter for your child's tutor group. These letters contain important information, including the timetable of lessons your child will experience during the transition days.
On both Tuesday 1st July and Wednesday 2nd July, please drop your child off at the Main Entrance of Nottingham Girls’ Academy, Robins Wood Road, at 8:40am. From there, pupils will be directed to the MUGA (Multi Use Games Area).
At the end of each day, your child should be collected from the Main Entrance at 3:00pm.
We are happy to answer any of your questions about the process and welcome you to contact the Academy if you would like any further information via:
admin@nottinghamgirlsacademy.org
We have children approximately 50 different primary schools coming in September, so if your child is the only person coming from their primary school please reassure them that they will not be in the only one and that the transition days will be designed to help them meet new people ahead of their start in September.
We look forward to making a strong partnership with you to support your child’s academic success over the coming seven years.
Transition Evening for parents/carers - Monday 30th June 2025
We are holding a Transition Evening on Monday 30 June 2025 at 5.30pm. There will be a presentation from the principal and other key staff members. After the presentation you will be given the opportunity to meet your child’s form tutor and all staff involved in the evening. Our new uniform provider will also be available on Transition Evening night to assist you with your child’s uniform arrangements for September.
There will be two opportunities to attend the presentation. The presentations will be at 5.30pm and 6.30pm. Please complete the form below by clicking on the link to let us know if you will be attending the transition evening and whether your child requires a school lunch. Please complete the form by 3pm on Friday 20 June 2025.
Complete the form to confirm your attendance here
Please book 1 ticket for each person attending the transition evening. We have a seating capacity and ask that only the parents/carers attend with the pupil that will be joining NGA in September.
Additional Transition
We will also start to contact the parents of students who we feel would benefit from a little extra support through transition. We will invite some pupils in for some additional visits to try and minimise the anxiety associated with moving schools.
